Ipswich Karate Association

The Ipswich Karate Association began in 2010 with five students and has now grown into a dojo with over 50 enthusiastic, hard training members.

Led by Sensei Jim Dodrill, who has competed and trained with many renowned karate champions and instructors. Jim's passion is to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of karateka.

Ipswich Karate Association also runs a special program for primary school aged students covering: self defence, anti-bullying and gross motor skill improvement.

JKA Brisbane Indooroopilly

Our dojo welcomes students of all ages! Our head instructor Sensei Shaun, started karate 35 years ago in New York, joining the JKA as a teenager. His first class as a beginner was taught by Sensei Masataka Mori (9th dan), a legend in the karate world and one of the founders of JKA karate in North America.

Sensei Shaun has competed in both the USA Nationals and the JKA World Championships representing the USA in both Kata, Kumite, and Team Kumite.
