On Australia day 2025, Carl Wangemann Sensei, was, recognised for outstanding Leadership and Community Impact.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Carl Sensei, was awarded the Karratha Community Citizen of the Year for 2025. This prestigious honour highlights his unwavering dedication to fostering a positive impact beyond the Dojo, enriching the lives of students and the broader community through the art of Karate.

We are proud to recognise Sensei Carl for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the growth of Shotokan Karate in the Pilbara. Since joining the Karratha Shotokan Karate Club in 2020, he has transformed and expanded the club’s reach, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all ages, abilities and ethnicities.

His efforts in local outreach have strengthened the club’s presence across the Pilbara securing new training locations in Karratha, Wickham, and Dampier.
